Do solar panels require maintenance?
Solar panels require little maintenance. In Flanders, rain is usually enough to keep them clean, but dirt, dust, leaves, or bird droppings can reduce their efficiency. A monitoring system allows you to detect any abnormalities or loss of power.
In systems with a string inverter, a single dirty or shaded panel can negatively affect the efficiency of the entire string, since all panels are connected in series.
Professional cleaning every two years is therefore highly recommended, especially in a dusty or wooded area.
How often should I have my air conditioner serviced?
To ensure smooth operation and a long service life, EnergyKing recommends having your air conditioner professionally serviced at least once a year.
During a service like this, the technician cleans the indoor and outdoor units, checks the refrigerant level and the electrical connections, and verifies that everything is operating efficiently and safely. This not only ensures your comfort but also maintains your energy efficiency—after all, a dirty or poorly adjusted air conditioner can quickly consume more energy.
Is air conditioner maintenance mandatory in Flanders?
For residential systems, maintenance is generally not required by law, as long as your air conditioner contains less than 7.4 kg of refrigerant (less than 5 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent). You can find this information on the label of the outdoor unit.
If your system contains more than 7.4 kg of refrigerant, maintenance is required under these regulations:
5–50 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent: annual maintenance required
50–500 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent: maintenance every 6 months
> 500 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent: maintenance every 3 months
Even if it isn't required, we recommend annual maintenance to ensure a longer lifespan and optimal performance of your air conditioner.
How do I cancel my service plan?
You can cancel your service plan at any time by sending an email to service@energyking.be.
Please keep in mind that you must give two months' notice before the contract's expiration date.
What should I do if my system isn't working?
Please fill out the maintenance form and describe the issue as clearly as possible. Include any error messages so we can analyze the problem more quickly.
