At IDT (Integrated DNA Technologies) in Leuven, EnergyKing has implemented an energy project to address the company’s high energy consumption and sharp consumption spikes. By intelligently connecting solar panels, battery storage, and charging infrastructure, energy efficiency at the site has improved significantly.
Since it was not possible to install solar panels on the building’s roof, a 116 kWp PV system was installed on a carport above the parking spaces. This solar energy powers, among other things, a charging plaza with 19 charging stations, consisting of 8 Alfen Eve Double Pro-line and 3 Alfen Single Pro-line charging stations. The entire energy system is controlled by our proprietary energy management system (EMS) KingConnect, which regulates the interaction between the carport, the charging stations, and the storage system.
Two Sungrow PowerStack battery systems have been installed for energy storage and management, with a total power of 220 kW and a capacity of 458 kWh. The batteries absorb the company’s high consumption peaks through peak shaving, thereby avoiding grid charges. In addition, the system is connected to the energy markets in collaboration with partner Scholt Energy. As a result, the battery automatically responds to current market prices by charging when rates are low and discharging when prices rise.
