At Vites in Vilvoorde, EnergyKing has completed a large-scale energy project focused on maximum efficiency, peak shaving, and smart energy trading. To optimize the site’s energy management, we implemented an impressive combination of new solar panels, the reuse of existing assets, and advanced battery storage.
The site is equipped with a new PV system consisting of 1,066 panels (460 Wp). In addition, 304 older panels (240 Wp) were carefully relocated. Because these existing panels still have valuable green energy certificates associated with them, this repositioning ensures the preservation of a significant financial benefit. To optimally manage all this solar energy, two Sungrow PowerStacks have been installed, providing a total capacity of 220 kW and a storage capacity of 458 kWh.
The batteries charge using low-cost solar energy so that the electricity can be used for self-consumption during times of peak energy demand. This form of peak shaving helps avoid high grid costs. In addition, the system is linked to the energy markets: the battery automatically responds to current market prices by charging when rates are low and using or trading the electricity during the more expensive evening hours. As the icing on the cake, Vites can now also easily share surplus solar energy with its other business sites.
