The Blei farm in Tremelo, which specializes in the production of free-range eggs, already had a substantial 300 kWp solar power system. However, a large portion of this green electricity remained underutilized. Surplus energy was fed into the grid at unfavorable rates, while energy-intensive processes such as ventilation and cooling caused high peak loads.
EnergyKing transformed this energy profile by installing a Sungrow PowerStack battery system (229 kWh), controlled by the smart KingConnect EMS. This system serves as the beating heart of the farm: it continuously analyzes solar production, consumption, and current dynamic energy prices.
Thanks to the smart control system from KingConnect, Blei’s self-consumption rose dramatically from 63% to a whopping 85%. The battery stores excess solar energy to be used during peak times or when market prices are high. The result? Annual savings of approximately €11,000 and a system that’s ready for the future. Thanks to support from the VLIF subsidy (Flemish Agricultural Investment Fund), this project also became even more financially attractive, with a short payback period.
