Electricity bill rises again

Starting March 1, households will be charged higher transmission rates. What exactly does this mean? Well the transmission rate is the portion of the electricity bill that is charged for the use of the high-voltage grid.

Energy bill rises

Electricity bills are soaring for the umpteenth time.

For an average family (3500-5500 kWh), the price increases by €5-7, depending on consumption. These data come from the Flemish energy regulator VREG.

The increase is due to CREG's approval of new Elia tariffs. Elia is the operator of the high-voltage grid; CREG is the federal energy regulator.
