EnergyKing Installs the First Sungrow PowerStack in Belgium

EnergyKing is the first company in Belgium to install the Sungrow PowerStack. Thanks to this battery storage system, a chicory farm is increasing its self-consumption.

At EnergyKing, we were the first in Belgium to install a Sungrow PowerStack 200CS. This advanced battery solution was installed at Witloof VIP, an innovative and highly automated chicory farm in Kampenhout. With this project, we are taking an important step toward more efficient energy use and smart storage solutions for Flemish industry and agriculture.

Sungrow Powerstack Specifications

The Sungrow PowerStack 200CS is a powerful battery storage system with a capacity of 110 kW and a storage capacity of 225 kWh. Thanks to the full integration of all components into a single enclosure—including inverters, battery modules, cooling, and safety systems—installation is quick and efficient, requiring minimal on-site work.

The AI-driven liquid cooling system ensures that the system remains at a constant temperature, even under heavy loads or high outdoor temperatures. This keeps efficiency stable and extends the life of the batteries.

For management purposes, the system is equipped with artificial intelligence and connected to iSolarCloud, a user-friendly app and web portal. Through this interface, users can monitor their energy consumption and battery status in real time, quickly detect problems, and even perform updates remotely. This significantly reduces maintenance costs.

The battery is also equipped with an advanced fire safety system that detects smoke, heat, and gas. Combined with its IP55 protection rating—which means the enclosure is completely dustproof and protected against rain—the system is ideally suited for demanding outdoor environments such as farms or industrial sites.

Self-consumption has increased significantly

Witloof VIP consumes more than 234 MWh of electricity annually for cooling, pumps, lighting, and other purposes. A few years ago, we installed a 155 kWp solar power system there, which generates 136 MWh per year. Until recently, approximately 59% of this energy was consumed on-site.

With the addition of the Sungrow PowerStack, direct self-consumption rises to 88% of the solar energy generated. This means that more than 40 MWh of additional energy is put to good use on the company’s own premises, rather than curtailing the solar energy or feeding it back into the grid.

In addition, the battery helps smooth out consumption peaks. By spreading consumption throughout the day, peak power demand decreases, and so do grid costs. This is a significant advantage for companies with variable production and energy-intensive processes.
